
An 18-year-old male was involved in a high-speed car versus tree crash (seat belt, airbag). He presented to our centre without respiratory or circulatory problems, but with clinical suspicion of fractures of the femur and the forearm. Blood gas analysis showed respiratory acidosis.
Coronal MDCT reconstruction showed: irregular opacities in the area of the left lower pulmonary lobe confirming the presence of pulmonary contusion, a large pulmonary laceration (traumatic pneumatocele) that was not visible at CR.
No EXTRA EXAMINATIONS for this particular case.
